know your roots

THE CIGAR BOX GUITAR WAS AN EVOLUTION OF THE DIDDLEY BOW AND HAS LITTLE IN COMMON WITH THE SPANISH GUITAR. THE CIGAR BOX GUITAR IS THE BROTHER OF THE BANJO AND , ALTHOUGH BOTH WERE BORN IN THE U.S.A. . . THEIR ORIGINS ARE IN  WEST AFRICA.

Battery Powered Amp

Just made this from an old Sanyo mains/battery radio/cassette circa 1970, and a speaker box from the local tip shop. Very basic electronics knowledge, and it  sounds fantastic, equivalent to busking cube amps. Runs off 6 volts, 4 cells, see pics

"Hi Mick, the lid is a piece of solid Mahogany, sanded to 2.5mm thick, glued to the box. The bridge is pinned and glued to the top with dowels to a backing plate underneath. The neck is rebated through the box so it does not touch the top at all. It…"
